What the site is, and is not

The site is a glossary with supporting guides. It explains terms and processes that come up when choosing, installing, paying for and managing PC games, and links to the Australian bodies responsible for consumer law, classification, privacy and online safety.

It is not the website of any game publisher, and it is not a partner, reseller or authorised source for any product. It is not a news service and does not publish reviews, ratings, testimonials or personal accounts. It does not offer downloads. It does not sell anything, and it does not collect information from visitors.

How we decide what to cover

We want to be precise about this, because it matters for how you read the site.

Product coverage is limited to products the publisher has a commercial relationship with. At present that is one product, World of Warships, which we link to through an affiliate network. We do not claim to survey or compare the whole market, and you should not read the presence of one product entry as a judgement that it is better than anything we do not mention.

Product facts come only from the information supplied with the programme. Where that information does not answer a question, the entry says "not stated" and points to where you can check. We do not fill gaps from memory or from other sites, and we do not describe features, prices or offers that our source does not state.

General guidance is written to stand on its own. The glossary and the guides do not depend on the commercial relationship and would be on the site without it. Topics are chosen by asking what a reader in Australia most often needs to understand before installing or paying for a PC game: whether it will run, how to set up and secure an account, what in-game purchases actually cost, how to check a classification, and what to do when a purchase goes wrong.

Claims about law and regulation are linked, not paraphrased. Where we mention a regulator or a legal protection, we link the responsible body. Where we could not identify a primary source for a specific rule, we describe the topic in general terms and send you to the source instead.

Order and emphasis are not for sale. The commission does not decide the order of pages or the content of the guides, and the guides do not promote the product.

Corrections and review

Every page shows when it was last reviewed. If you think something is wrong, unclear or out of date, email info@astralbase.online. We correct the page itself rather than adding a note elsewhere, and update the review date when we do.

What we collect

Nothing, through the site itself. There are no forms, accounts, cookies, analytics or advertising tags. Our privacy policy describes the server logs kept by our hosting provider and what happens to emails you send us, and our cookie policy explains why there is no cookie banner.
